Stal Hamelspoel

Breeding

Stal Hamelspoel has a small breeding program. Each year, 3 to 4 foals are born. The goal is to breed a fine sport horse with a good temperament. Of course, the ultimate dream would be to see one of our breeding products in the high level jumping classes.

Months before the breeding season starts, potential stallions are already selected and noted on the long list. The final short list is drawn up after much family discussion. An important requirement is that the stallion is currently competing, or has competed, at a high level in the sport, is rideable, and has a good mind.

We mainly breed with mares that we have competed ourselves.
Cisertha competed up to 1.40m with Joffra. Due to an injury, she had to retire from the sport early. So far, she has produced 3 foals, of which Piasertha (by United Touch) seems to be a very talented horse.
We also breed with Zamira and her full sister Zalanta, who unfortunately passed away too soon. Both mares competed up to 1.35m with Joffra. Their offspring seem very promising but are not under the saddle yet.
